Well it is fairly early in the process, and I expect I will be building this for at least six months, but I will document my build here. What I am doing is a very unique build that is geared towards a very modern look. I think now that we have seen 7" and 8" 16:9 screens in cars for a decade or more, manufacturers are becoming more creative in how they deliver in car infotainment. I mean have you seen the Audi A9: I am going to duplicate the look and feel of the super widescreens of cars like the Lexus: Or the BMW: (Continued in next post. it should be easier to attach pictures from my computer without uploading them somewhere so I had to use attachments)

Or the BMW: I am going to do this by installing my 3:2 ratio 12.3" screen halfway into my dash. I will then have a button to raise it if I want a full screen mode. In addition I want it to fold down when the car is turned off. It should look pretty cool. Why am i doing this? Besides looking pretty cool, the screen of my Surface Pro is far too big. It would overwhelm my car, and obstruct some of the view through the windshield if it was up all the time. This way I get a very modern look with the option to go full screen if I want to see the full map or something. So in addition to some pretty serious fabrication issues to mount this, I will need to make a new custom skin for the front end I choose. Since it will have to be so custom, I will likely go with ride runner for now. I will also need an alternative view for each page in the UI for when it is in full screen mode. I will keep you guys posted. Especially since I will have so many questions.
