If you do the whole vehicle though it can be costly or time consuming or both.

Sounds like the Plasti-Dip (Home Depot or online) that I used to black out my logos and chrome. It sprays on. And stays on. But you can peel it off with some force and it comes off cleanly.
People have been using Plasti Dip on cars for years now. It's the go-to for ghetto wheel paint (which I would not trust it for). But it works great on any part of the car. I think I did my Plasti Dip work on my car about a year ago and it has not peeled or been damaged in any way. And I had never spray painted anything. It was very easy to work with.
Lay down a light coat. Wait 20 minutes. Thicker coat. Wait 20 minutes. Repeat a few times. Done.

Rather than remove badges and have to fill and paint the holes they sometimes leave, many over here have gust Plasti-dipped them to the same colour as their panels. Also seen that for a few years.

I just got the matte vehicle wraps for my vintage car. It was done professionally by the team at silvertipgraphics shop in Minnesota. They did wonderful work that was very quick and 100% neat. If anyone here wants full body wraps, just have a look at their services.
