spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/semiconductors/design/superaccurate-gps-chips-coming-to-smartphones-in-2018The article talks about a new secondary GPS signal (called L5, in addition to the standard L1 that most GPS satellites broadcast), and ultimately providing accuracy to within 30cm instead of 500cm. Apparently there are already 30+ satellites that broadcast the new signal, and new phones will start using it next year. Sweet. Finally something accurate enough to let us vaporize a human target from space. Anybody got a house full of popcorn?

500cm is accurate enough to vaporize someone, OK, there may be some collateral, but hey.
