What I use isnt really on the poll. I use an USB 3G Stick (possibly 4G soon) which is totally independent from my phone and is not hotspot. Just a simple modem I guess.

I'm the only person who tethers? Why pay for a second device and connection? Is it to provide multiple devices with a hotspot?
In the beginning, I used USB tethering. Just plug in the USB and I was charging my phone as well as providing an internet connection to my CarPC.
When I switched to the setup in my Taurus, I didn't have any extra USB ports wired to the PC so I used Bluetooth tethering.
Now I use the WiFi Access Point on my phone to tether wirelessly and also plug in to a cigarette lighter to charge. The only reason I switched to WiFi instead of BlueTooth for tethering was because the ROM on my phone wasn't working with BT tethering at the time. Now that I'm thinking about it, I might try switching back to BT tethering.
I plan on using USB tethering again when I've added some USB ports on my dashboard.

I dont get good reception on my phone inside of the car, depending on where I am (I often drive in rural areas). My USB stick is mounted near the upper edge of the windshield, and provides much better signal than the phone. I thought about doing an external antenna, but I dont like drilling holes into the body.
