I am in testing with the Road Dragon tracking unit. This unit had 2 models 2g only and 2/3g. They have quadband GSM/GPRS GPS printer for daily logs, has 4 serial ports, 1 usb, TF slot, external antenna's (SMA) for cellular and gps. It has a card slot for id cards to keep record of driver ID. 3 optional camera's and a CAN hookup. LCD Display.

I wasn't aware 2g was even around anymore. I have heard rumor that 3g will be getting phased out here in the states in favor of LTE over the next couple of years.
Verizon was going to be rolling out LTE only phones if it hasn't already and stop supporting 3G across the network at the same time.
Something about LTE can support 10x or more data connections at the tower than 3G can. 5G is being tested that rivals wired broadband speeds...

2g is suppose to shut down in the USA in Jan 2017 but now some companies are rethinking that decision. Although some have already started shutting down that service. I have heard nothing on 3G being shut down as its a cheap solution to a high speed network for most data use. LTE and 4G are really only for the masses to download and stream video since no other internet use needs any more speed than 3G. I stream my Slingbox to my truck when a game is on and I'm on the road with no issues on 3G other than the data total. It will be interesting times ahead with IOT taking center stage SNO

I am currently developing a complete DCS for the road dragon G-V301 Testing so far has shown good results with all inputs/outputs working, sos trigger alert, ID card notification and driver info. Working on camera integration now, hopefully it will be ready for January 2017 release. Leave message here if you want more info on this DCS. SNO

SNO, regarding most of the companies you are involved with, what are most of them saying regarding the required OBR's at the end of next year?
Are many jumping early to allow time to get the bugs worked out? Is there a particularly attractive brand/model of OBR out there that the majority are looking at using?
I will unfortunately have to have one for my truck as well and I'm just not sure what way to go yet. The one that caught my eye at the Louisville truck show this year was the VDO RoadLog because it is (at least at the time) the only one that did not have a monthly fee attached to unless you bought the plus model that has cellular comm with it. You buy it for about $800 and your done.
What are you thoughts?
