Have you had any issues with cold weather and the SD card? I would be concerned about that for the most part. Guess using a SATA drive gets around that though.
What power supply did you end up using?
I will be working on setting up my I5 based PC in my truck hooked to a 10" screen in the console but I could certainly see me using one of these or the other one I mentioned in another thread in a double din case and linking the two together via the LAN port so they work like one unit.

Hey SNO, My old VIA Pico board (single core 1ghz) might be due for an upgrade and this little Latte Panda looks quite nice by the specs. How does it run the FE ? Have you tried it with video ?

Hey SNO,
If you use the the autostart BIOS on the Panda, how are you shutting it down?
Automatically, by any chance, with an input from Ignition?

I was considering an Arduino Nano as an HID device. Then use an ignition input to trigger some kind of keyboard commands to command a shutdown. In your experience, what's the best method to shutdown reliably from keyboard commands? A google search shows a few ways, but I was looking for your opinion on the most reliable for WIN10.

This might help you linkIn my daily driver with win7 I have a power button on my dash to start my computer and like I said before I use the windows shutdown on the start menu. I am sure I could have auto startup/shutdown since my power supply is the dsatx, but I prefer the tried and true method as I really rely on my carPC for work on site. SNO

Hey SNO, what is that GPS receiver on the back wall of the case? I assume it's some sort that puts out a serial signal, and then you used a USB to serial converter? Is that a CH340?

Do you recall the model, and where you got it?

This might be a good one as it already has the USB on it plus connector to add external antenna or use the existing. Pretty cheap too. www.sparkfun.com/products/14446

I saw that one. I was actually looking for a cheaper alternative, and I don't mind the soldering. I see Amazon has the GlobalSat BU-353-S4 for $25. I'd be needing 2, as I use 64bit, and none of the port splitters are reliable for 64bit. I see some GPS modules on Ebay NEO-7M-0-000 and NEO-M8N and NEO-6M GY-NEO6MV2. These range from $5 to $13 with antennas. I'd then also need the serial to USB, the CH340G is $1.
I know the GlobalSat is convenient, but at $50 for 2, I would not mind going the cheaper route. Any comments?

I would stay away from the globalsat I find they are pretty useless and have issues. Yes I believe I paid 3 for the gps chip on aliexpress the ftdi you can find anywhere pretty cheap too I was only providing a quick and easy solution. I am sure you can find cheaper SNO

OK, I ordered a couple of the M8N modules ($13 ea), and 2 USB to TTL's ($0.80 ea).
They are coming with the short little IPEX antenna. I might have to extend it. Or I suppose I can move the whole GPS module to where I want. RS232 is good for 10 ft. or so. I'll just need some 4 conductor shielded cable.
Now to wait for the shipment from China.
