E posted a link to an archived copy of the RRPDC pluging thread from mp3car for me on a site called "Wayback Machine" (web.archive.org)
Wondering how much more of the mp3car forums we might be able to find in there, especially build threads for those who want to get their information again.

Most of it is there, through history.
Only the really hidden threads seem to be missing

Ha, glad to find you guys! Excited to get back into it, see what's new. Bought a little 2014 Smart Fortwo as a company car, figure I should put a PC in it as a trial run for getting back to the scene.

I expect numbers will be dwindling. The older MP3car members who were doing most of the development are probably not into it as much as they were because the demand for CarPCs would have gone down with the tech built-in to most of the newer cars and major brand head units these days. Younger people too would mostly be using the tech in newer cars or doing most things with their mobile devices not to go searching for something to use in the car.
Just us enthusiasts left now I guess.

I see , is just that the dreams/aspirations for what is was time ago a CARpc, now can be much much more than that. : with so many open sources, and cars that started as preorder (see tesla) , Automation , robotics in cars- with the actuall technology can be driven to the stars. RasberryPi, WindowsSurface,GPS into clusters , 3D holographic gauges, All the 3D printing now available, scanners go more accurate with photogrametry -- Audio control DANTE and AVB , binaural simulation in a room (not on headsets) ,piggibacks controlled from Carputers to fully dimmension your engine specs, not talking about electric engines, or hub engines as hybrid to Otto. Guys, numbers must not go down., but all up !

Then came all the random android tablet installs, and thus began the decline. Was kind of neat to see what extremes some people could take the tablet build, but it just seemed to cheapen the whole hobby for me. I rolled out a CarPC based on needs, had a lot of music and nothing at the time could handle all that. Now that I have kids that are into PC games and stuff I have a reason to go multi-pc and mobile network, try something new and different. 3 small gaming rigs, hidden USB ports, that kind of thing. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Yes, but how did you get in? Someone left the door wide open.
