So I got an AmazFit Bip smartwatch.
For $75 (usd) you get a smartwatch with touch screen, gps, bluetooth, pedometer, heart monitoring, sleep monitoring, customizable faces, replaceable bands, and up to 30 day battery life.
It comes with a little charging cradle that I will probably lose before I even need to charge this thing. You can make your own watch faces with some work.
It displays incoming texts and calls, and can dismiss calls. It syncs with Google Fit.
At first I thought "why would I need notifications on my wrist when i am in bluetooth range of my phone?" But it actually is convenient. I don't always have my phone next to me where I will notice it vibrating.
I haven't worn a watch in 15+ years, but now I've had this one on for almost 24 hours. And I'm not hating it.
What's awesome?
It does what is says it does, for a good price. A touch screen on my wrist? Yeah, I'm okay with that.
Date / time syncs from the app or GPS.
Smart watches and fitness trackers are trendy. I'm not usually current with this stuff.
What's not great?
The watch does not sync or notify with any alarms or reminders on your phone. You can set up alarms and reminders on the watch though. I think there may be ways to work around this limitation.
Now I can be a hypochondriac and wonder 'why is my heart rate 100 beats per minute?' Or 70, or whatever it happens to be.
I've listed everything it does. There's no installing a custom rom on it or anything. There are some apps to extend it's usability, but only in minor ways.
Setup was just okay. There was a moment where I'm like 'alright, how the hell do i pair this to my phone in a usable way' but once I found the tiny instruction manual and installed the right app (Mi Fit) on my phone it worked great.
Overall, I recommend this thing.
